Nelson Dakmak founded Dakmak Construction in 1982, specializing in both residential and commercial renovations. He quickly gained a reputation for delivering high-quality projects across various areas in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Hammond, St. Francisville, and Houston. Over 30 years, his projects have encompassed a wide range, from simple residential maintenance to commercial establishments like seafood markets, apartment complex renovations, clubhouses, and residential bath and kitchen additions and renovations.
Nelson served as President of the Remodelers Council of Greater Baton Rouge and has been a continuing board member for over 20 years. Through this involvement, he actively contributes to the community through projects and continuing education for its members.
Dakmak Construction's first historical plantation remodeling project was Oakley Plantation in St. Francisville. They were then invited to bid on the Historical Otis Plantation in Madisonville, Louisiana, marking their second successful historical remodel completed in 2011.
Nelson is recognized as a Historic Remodeler by the State of Louisiana for his work on the exterior renovations of both The Oakley Plantation in St. Francisville and Otis Plantation in Madisonville.
HGTV featured a Dakmak Construction remodel project in their popular series "Bang for your Buck."
Daren Dakmak, Nelson's son, grew up surrounded by creativity, inheriting his father's skilled craftsmanship and his mother's artistic talent. Daren's father, Nelson, is a highly skilled and respected contractor whose work has been featured on HGTV and 225 magazine. His mother, Terri Dakmak, is a renowned watercolor artist in Baton Rouge, further influencing Daren's perspective in the remodeling industry.
After studying Architectural Drafting at Catholic High, Daren pursued his passion for design and followed in his father's footsteps. He majored in Interior Design at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, returning to Baton Rouge with fresh ideas and enthusiasm to contribute to the family business.
Daren is proud of his father's contributions to the Baton Rouge community and looks forward to carrying on his legacy, enhancing homeowners' quality of life, and preserving historical structures.
