Nelson served as President of the Remodelers Council of Greater Baton Rouge and has been a continuing board member for over 20 years. Through this involvement, he actively contributes to the community through projects and continuing education for its members. Dakmak Construction's first historical plantation remodeling project was Oakley Plantation in St. Francisville. They were then invited to bid on the Historical Otis Plantation in Madisonville, Louisiana, marking their second successful historical remodel completed in 2011.
